We have exciting news! Naples Compost will be at the Miromar Outlets Farmers’ Market in Estero starting in June. The market is every Friday from 9-1 located in the parking lot behind Ford’s Garage.
We will be accepting food scraps and selling a variety of items. We will have finished compost, compost tea, countertop compost bins, plants, and a selection of all natural fertilizers.
We will have two new composting options for customers
- A compost bucket exchange system– 3 months for $60. With a bucket exchange system, you bring your full bucket to the market each week and leave with a clean bucket. The 3 month fee includes a countertop compost bin, a clean 5 gallon bucket each week, and finished compost at the end of the 3 months. Sign up using this form You can also sign up at the market or contact us in advance to sign up. Call 727-248-0503 or email Naplescompost@gmail.com.
- A free food waste drop off program– the first 5 gallons of food waste can be composted with us for free. This does not include a countertop compost bin, a clean bucket each week, or finished compost. All we ask is that you join our email list in exchange so we can keep you in the loop on all things compost!
Environmental Justice for all!
Yes, we realize that accepting food waste for free is a terrible business model. We’ve been told that by all our “business savvy” friends. However, we believe that everyone should have the ability to live a green lifestyle without cost as a limiting factor.
This location is a perfect spot for our first free drop off location because it is located only a few miles away from Florida Gulf Coast University. Since most college students don’t have the ability to pay for our services, we are happy to be able to accept the first 5 gallons of food waste free of charge each week. After that we ask for $5 for every 5 gallons after.
What can I compost?
Our compost processor is an industrial scale compost site which means we can compost ALL FOOD and ALL COMPOSTABLE BIOPLASTICS.
This means that the next time you get a compostable straw or cup at your favorite restaurant, you can hold onto it and compost it with us at the market. You can also use some of these compostable products instead of buying plastic.
transporting your food waste
If you plan to take advantage of our free food waste drop off, please be considerate and store your waste in a way that keeps bugs and smells away.
We sell countertop compost bins for $20 and can also sell you compostable bags.
You can transport your compost in a bucket or do what Lauren Singer does in the video below. She freezes her scraps until ready to go to the market. Freezing or refrigerating is a great way to keep pests out of your food scraps until drop off day.

Our curbside pickup is open for expansion!
You’ll also have the opportunity to sign up for our curbside pick up option. For $40 a month we offer weekly pick up of your food scraps. We already service the following zip codes in Naples, and we are open to servicing more in Bonita Springs, Estero, and Fort Myers if we have enough interest:
